When a Lock Needs to Fit the Space
One clear trend is the growing importance of design consistency.
In the past, door locks were purely functional. As long as they were secure and durable, that was enough. Today, especially in boutique hotels and design-focused properties, even small details are expected to align with the overall interior style.
At the exhibition, YGS presented its artistic hotel lock series with this in mind. Instead of fixed designs, these locks can be adapted in terms of shape, texture, and finish, allowing them to blend naturally into different environments.
Whether used in minimalist spaces or more decorative settings, the intention is simple—the lock should not interrupt the design. It should quietly fit in.
From Standalone Devices to System-Based Management
If design reflects external changes, operational efficiency reflects more immediate challenges. For hotels managing multiple locations, traditional standalone systems are becoming harder to maintain. Information can be scattered, updates often rely on manual input, and device status is not always visible in real time.
At the exhibition, YGS introduced its networked smart lock system as a response to these challenges. The system is built on an IoT-based structure combined with a cloud platform, allowing different devices—such as door locks, access control, and elevator systems—to be managed together.
Tasks like issuing access credentials, checking device status, or adjusting settings can be handled through a single interface. More importantly, these actions do not require complex technical knowledge, making the system easier to use in real working environments.
Security Expectations Are Evolving
Security remains essential, but expectations around it are changing.
More hotels are becoming aware of the limitations of older access systems, including the risks associated with traditional M1 cards. At the same time, data protection and system reliability are receiving more attention.
YGS addresses these concerns through a full-chain approach, combining encrypted communication with stable hardware performance.
Electromagnetic locking solutions within the system offer holding force options ranging from 60kg to 1000kg, depending on different applications. The lock body is designed for durability, with features such as waterproof and fire-resistant performance, allowing it to function reliably in a range of environments.
At the same time, quiet operation ensures that security improvements do not interfere with the guest experience—something simple, but important in practice.
Reducing Coordination in Daily Operations
In many hotels, a significant amount of time is spent on coordination between teams.
Front desk staff, housekeeping, and maintenance teams often rely on manual communication to stay aligned. Even small delays—such as room status not being updated in time—can affect overall efficiency.
With a connected system, some of these processes can be simplified. After check-out, rooms can be automatically marked for cleaning, tasks are assigned, and updates are reflected in real time. This does not reduce the work itself, but it reduces the need for repeated communication, allowing teams to focus more on execution.
From the guest perspective, access is also becoming more flexible. Bluetooth and NFC unlocking options help streamline the check-in process, removing unnecessary steps and making the experience more convenient.
Making Installation and Management Simpler
Installation and maintenance are often overlooked, yet they play an important role in overall efficiency. Traditional lock systems can involve multiple tools, configuration cards, and complex steps, which may slow down deployment.
With a more simplified setup process, installation can be completed more quickly on-site. At the same time, centralized system visibility allows device status, battery levels, and maintenance cycles to be monitored more clearly.
Over time, this makes system management more predictable and easier to handle.
Built on Long-Term Industry Experience
With over 26 years in the industry, YGS has provided products and solutions for more than 200,000 hotel rooms. Its experience spans both international hotel groups and regional brands.
Projects have involved names such as Hilton, Jinjiang, Huazhu, Dossen, and eLong. Working across different types of properties and operational models has helped shape how the company approaches both product design and system development.
Looking Ahead
The exhibition may have come to an end, but the direction of the industry continues to evolve. As hotels rethink how they manage operations, design spaces, and improve guest experience, even basic components like door locks are becoming part of a larger system.
For YGS, the focus remains on making these systems more stable, easier to use, and better suited to real-world conditions. In many cases, the most meaningful improvements are not the most visible ones—but the ones that make everyday work run more smoothly.
